Alfred MoProfile-1970ore and his wife Winnie were farming sheep and cattle at Froxton, Alfred was always looking for ways to expand the business and mechanise the farm.

Alfred purchased a Fordson Major E27N tractor and dung spreader in 1950 followed by a Massey Harris baler shortly afterwards. This was followed in 1957 by the aquision of a trailed Allen digger to repair drains on the farm. Many local farmers also needed to repair drains and install new drains on their farms and on hearing of Alfred’s machinery and successful efforts were very keen to hire in his services. The company then became known as A J Moore & Sons Ltd, the three sons Brian, Wesley and Raymond joined in 1963.Profile

Eventually due to success in providing land drainage, in 1980 a Dutch drainage machine was purchased for £101,000.00 with two years’ work booked ahead. With the ever-changing

Profile and Home agricultural politics the drainage grants were removed and Moore’s diversified into general agricultural contracting, now running three forage harvesters alongside plant hire and haulage.

Moores of Froxton Ltd is now very much a family business run by Wesley and Raymond.

Jeremy and Ian, (Wesley and Raymond’s sons) and Wesley’s wife Andrea are now very much involved, along with a workforce of over thirty workers, many are farmer’s sons and all skilled, conscientious and well trained in their various jobs.
